About SalaryCalculatorAfterTaxes.com
An independent take-home-pay calculator for the UK and US: gross salary in, net pay out, with the tax bands and statutory deductions for each jurisdiction taken from each tax authority's published schedule. Operated by Digital Signet, founded by Oliver Wakefield-Smith.
Why we built it
Most online take-home-pay calculators are built around an ad surface or a lead-form for financial services. The actual tax-band logic is straightforward (HMRC publishes the UK Income Tax and National Insurance bands; the IRS publishes the US Federal income tax brackets, FICA rates and state-by-state references) and the calculator should just apply them transparently. This site exists to publish the tax-band logic per jurisdiction with the assumption set inline, so the reader can verify against the published source.

About the studio
This site is operated by Digital Signet, an independent AI-development studio founded by Oliver Wakefield-Smith. It is part of a portfolio of consumer cost-reference and calculator sites we run as a live R&D lab for our Signet methodology, an autonomous AI development team that ships real software at scale.
Digital Signet does not provide tax advice, does not act as an accountancy practice, does not sell financial-services products, and does not accept paid placements from any tax-prep, payroll or financial-services vendor. Editorial direction is set by Oliver. Drafts are produced via Digital Signet's autonomous AI development methodology and reviewed against the editorial framework before publication.

What we hold to
- Source pattern. One authoritative source per provider, cited per page.
- No paid placements. Does not provide tax advice, does not act as an accountancy practice, does not sell financial-services products, and does not accept paid placements from any tax-prep, payroll or financial-services vendor. Independent of every named third party in the relevant space.
- Math is documented inline. Where the site has a calculator, inputs and assumptions are visible on the calculator page. Nothing is hidden behind opaque scoring.
- Update only when underlying reality changes. Triggers: UK Spring or Autumn Budget changes that affect Income Tax / NI bands; Annual IRS Tax Table refresh (typically October-November for next tax year); State income-tax rate change in any covered state; Major statutory deduction change (Student Loan plans, AE pension thresholds, 401(k) limits).
